Marketplace or Private Insurance Plan

You can find and review family health insurance plans through the state or federal Health Insurance Marketplaces on your own. The plan options are listed by “Metal” levels of Bronze, Silver, Gold  or Platinum and are built to support most families general need.  It’s a good idea to speak with a licensed health insurance agent to navigate these marketplaces to ensure you get the plan for you. As you know health care can be expensive, but its smart to have plans in place to protect your family.

Bronze Plan Level
Marketplace plans that are Bronze level offer the lowest monthly premium but the highest cost when you need health care so make sure you understand your health history to see if a Bronze level plan fits.  On average these plans you can expect the insurance company to pay 60% and you will pay 40% of the costs but is an estimated average.
Silver Plan Level
Marketplace plans that are Silver level offers moderate monthly premium but the moderate costs when you need health care so make sure you understand your health history to see if a Silver level plan fits.  On average these plans you can expect the insurance company to pay 70% and you will pay 30% of the costs but is an estimated average.
Gold Plan Level
Marketplace plans that are Gold level offer the high monthly premium but the low cost when you need health care so make sure you understand your health history to see if a Gold level plan fits.  On average these plans you can expect the insurance company to pay 80% and you will pay 20% of the costs but is an estimated average.
Platinum Level Plan
Marketplace plans that are Platinum level offer the highest monthly premium but the lowest cost when you need health care so make sure you understand your health history to see if a Platinum level plan fits.  On average these plans you can expect the insurance company to pay 90% and you will pay 10% of the costs but is an estimated average.
Catastrophic Plans
Catastrophic health plans are primarily for people under 30 or with certain expeditions. These health plans have low premiums but the deductibles are extremely high so be aware of these costs in the event of a health care need.  They can be affordable on a monthly basis and should provide some coverage in extreme or worst case situations.  All routine and preventative care will come out of pocket for you. The total amount of income for the entire family. This may be a W2 for those people that are employed in the household and is important for those families that are self employed. This also will help the licensed Insurance Agent determine if you qualify for any federal subsidies that could lower your plan costs.

If you have a current family health insurance plan its important to provide this to your licensed Insurance Agent to properly compare the changes you may have in the new plan. Grab the policy numbers and provider details if available.

Family Medicine Needs

Take a few minutes and go thru each family members specific medicine needs. Review the copays of the prescriptions in the current plan to make sure you have proper coverage in the new plan, a licensed Insurance Agent can help navigate this with you.
